Meet Our Doctors
James L Hutton, D.D.S.
Dr. James Hutton is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. After graduating from John Overton High School, he received a degree in Biology from the University of Tennessee at Martin, then graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1985. Dr. Hutton completed his residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, which also included rotations at the University of Louisville and Kosair Children’s Hospital.
He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Tennessee Society of Pediatric Dentists, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
In addition to his professional activities, Dr. Hutton enjoys hiking, skiing, and serving as a volunteer Boy Scout Leader with Troop 154. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Zion Christian Academy. Dr. Hutton is married and has two sons.
Heather Huntley Owens, D.D.S.
Dr. Heather Owens grew up in Columbia, Tennessee. After graduating from Columbia Central High School, she attended the University of Memphis and graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1997. Dr. Owens completed her residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, which also included rotations at Kosair Children’s Hospital, Lexington Cleft Palate Clinic, and Shriners Hospital for Children.
Dr. Owens is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Association of Women Dentists, and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an active staff member at Maury Regional Hospital and a member of Junior Auxiliary of Columbia.
Dr. Owens and her husband, Ryan, have a daughter, Audrey. They enjoy boating, scuba diving and gardening in their spare time.
Robert E. Sims, D.M.D., M.S.D.
Dr. Robert Sims grew up in the small Kentucky town of Flemingsburg. He moved to Lexington, Kentucky, in 1978 to begin his higher education at the University of Kentucky. There, he earned his bachelor’s degree (biology), master’s degree (microbiology), dental degree (D.M.D.), orthodontic certificate and master’s degree in dentistry (M.S.D.).
Dr. Sims has published articles and abstracts in national and international dental journals. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Sims is involved in national and local orthodontic and dental organizations including Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the Nashville Dental Society.
In his spare time, Dr. Sims enjoys running, scuba diving, water and snow skiing. He is also involved with choral music at church. He is married to Laura Sims and is the father of two daughters, Laura Hanson and Audrey.
